ISLAMABAD : Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Dr Sania Nishtar has said that the first phase of Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme will continue till July. She said that an amount of Rs12,000 is being provided to each deserving person to purchase edible items for their family members. She said that the second phase of the programme will take some time to start.She said that Sindh is enjoying a lion’s share from Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme. She said, “We should not link Benazir Income Support Programme with Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme as both the programmes have different methodology and limits.” Meanwhile, more than Rs120 billion have so far been disbursed among over 99,34,000 deserving people across the country under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program. According to a statement issued on Wednesday, over Rs52 billion have been distributed among over 4.3 million people in Punjab and over Rs36 billion among over three million people in Sindh, over Rs22 billion among over 1.8 million people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about Rs6 billion among 488,000 people in Balochistan, over Rs2 billion among 1,71,000 people in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, over Rs870 million among 69,000 people in Gilgit-Baltistan and Rs530 million were disbursed among over 43,000 people in Islamabad.
