ISLAMABAD: Former Federal Minister of Information, Broadcasting, and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid Friday claimed that he sacrificed over Dawn Leaks episode to save democratic system in the country.
“It was the establishment mentality that had done everything and that PTI was just a pawn,” the former minister claimed.
In a media chat, Pervaiz Rashid claimed that he had given a sacrifice in the Dawn Leaks episode for democracy and against terrorism.
“Won’t take the name of the institution but certain individuals were involved,” he said.
He said the evil spirit of ex-President Pervez Musharraf conspired against their government. He added that Musharraf s evil spirit is present in several institutions and politicians. “I will not name any institution, but certain people are involved in the conspiracy,” he stressed.
Rashid said that the government had not sent Musharraf abroad but it could not stop him either. “Other institutions did not help us in stopping Musharraf,” he said.
Pervaiz Rashid said that earlier, prime ministers used to go home silently. He stated that now that would not be the case.
He said people would forget names of prime minister within a couple of months once they were ousted from office. “Previously, when prime minister were ousted, they would go home silently, but this is not the case now,” he said. “People responded strongly when the last prime minister was ousted this time”.
Talking about the PML-N tenure, he said a lot of things happened despite their rule. “Decisions came against us despite having ministry of interior. Premiers in past used to walk away when disqualified, but it will not happen this time. We have to fight and end this idea,” he told.
This was Pervaiz Rashid’s first public statements after he was sacked following the controversial Dawn Leaks saga.
