ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media and Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has suspended the license of Din News and Neo TV and fined one million rupees to each over levelling baseless allegations against the Judge of Supreme Court.
Similarly, SACH TV has been also fined Rs one million for airing remarks of caller Ali Nawaz.
Three satellite TV channels were issued notices on November 19, 2016 for airing irresponsible analysis and asked to submit reply on November 26, 2016 after appearance in PEMRA.
On November 26, the reply was submitted and representatives of channels failed to defend themselves.
After hearing the viewpoint of three TV Channels, PEMRA suspended the license of Din news channel for 30 days and imposed fine of Rs one million besides directions to pay fine amount within 15 days.
The decision would be effective from December 1, 2016 at 1200 hours.
The similar decision was given for Neo TV. However, its license was suspended for seven days.
The PEMRA imposed fine of Rs. 1 million on SACH TV and asked to pay amount within 15 days.
