BERLIN: Chairman of the National Assembly’s Special Committee on Kashmir, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said that peace in South Asia is directly linked to relations between India and Pakistan. The international community should make sincere efforts to get the dispute of Kashmir resolved as per aspirations of the people of Kashmir and the relevant Resolutions of the UN Security Council as both India and Pakistan are bound to hold a plebiscite in Jammu & Kashmir under these resolutions for the settlement of this dispute. He was talking to the Head of the Task Force on Pakistan and Afghanistan, Dr. Thomas Zahneisen at the German Federal Foreign Office here in Berlin today. He said that dispute on Kashmir was a main irritant in India and Pakistan relations and that Pakistan had always sought solution of all its issue with India through negotiations but India halted the composite dialogue unilaterally taking a refuge under trivial excuses.
He briefed Dr. Thomas and other officials of the German Foreign Office about the ongoing military operation against the terrorists and militants in Tribal Areas of Pakistan and said that it was the responsibility of the International community to put pressure on India to stop cross border firing on the LoC when Pakistan was heavily engaged on its western border against the terrorists. He said that since one can not change one’s family and neighbor, therefore, solution of any issue between the neighbors lied in negotiations as wars never provided any solution except destructions.
