ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) parliamentary secretary Farrukh Habib said on Tuesday that those who accuse the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of running on foreign funds are the ones who invented this practice.

“The entire leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is siting in a foreign country at present, but their leaders accuse us of being funded from abroad,” Habib said.

He made these remarks while speaking to the media outside the office of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) this afternoon.

The PTI leader went on to claim that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was being funded by two foreign countries.
Turning his guns towards PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Habib said she was ‘gifted’ the laundered money by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, her father.

“The foreign funding case is getting on Maryam’s nerves,” he said.

Habib said he has challenged the PML-N’s leadership to appear at the ECP with their money trail, but the PML-N vice president instead designates her party’s members to hit back at the PTI.

“[Conversely] the PTI furnished the record of 40,000 financial donors,” he maintained.

Habib recalled that Maryam was “caught with her lies, including in the Calibri font faux pas [in the Panama Papers leaks].”

The PTI leader said it was the PML-N leader who told us about the Sharif family’s ties with Indian businessman Sajjan Jindal.

“He had been funding the Sharif family, not because of their friendly ties, but against Pakistan’s interests,” he added.

Habib wondered as to how the PML-N leadership blamed them of compromising Kashmir, while the former PM chose to meet film actors instead of Hurriyet leaders at Narendra Modi’s oath-taking.
