Parliamentary leaders express all-out support to Kashmiris

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary leaders Wednesday unanimously expressed the resolve to support Kashmiris in their just struggle of right to self-determination.

Addressing the joint session of Parliament in Islamabad over prevailing situation in Occupied Kashmir and along the Line of Control, they reiterated that whole nation is united to respond any aggression against the country.

Taking part in the discussion, Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah said that the entire nation is united and firmly standing with Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle of right to self-determination.  He said UN should break its silence in holding plebiscite in Kashmir according to its charter and resolutions passed by the Security Council over the Kashmir issue. He said Islamic countries should also be sensitized over the issue.

Khurshid Shah said UN should solve the Kashmir issue on the patterns of East Timor. He stressed the need for mobilizing diplomatic corps to highlight Kashmir issue on the international level. He said the time has come when we should take bold decisions.

The PPP leader also questioned Pakistan’s weak policies, ‘Why does Pakistan feel isolated at the international arena?’

‘Why is our foreign policy so weak, why are we lonely?’ asked the senior PPP leader. ‘We have to realise our mistakes and choose better path for the future. Our policies have led to this stage, where Bangladesh is also against us.’

JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said UN has failed to implement its own resolutions on Kashmir issue. He urged the international community to play their due role in solving the longstanding issue of Kashmir. He said Kashmir is a human issue and the world should take notice of the Indian atrocities being perpetrated on innocent civilian population of the Held Territory.

MQM leader Farooq Sattar said over 100 unarmed civilians have been martyred and over 1000 injured in Indian state terrorism during the current wave of violence in Occupied Kashmir. He said India had become habitual in resorting to unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations on the Line of Control. He said now New Delhi is going to impose water aggression against Pakistan. He called for national unity to evolve an effective and long term Kashmir policy.

Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Sirajul Haq said that the people of Kashmir have rendered numerous sacrifices in their struggle of right to self-determination and they will soon see a dawn of freedom. He said the intelligentsia has acknowledged the fact that Kashmir is slipping out of New Delhi’s hand. He said that Kashmir freedom movement has now been shifted to the young generation, which has given it a new direction. He said Burhan Wani has emerged as a symbol of struggle for the new generation.

Awami National Party leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said that 200 million people of Pakistan support Kashmiris’ birth right to self-determination. He said Kashmir issue should be resolved through peaceful means on the dialogue table. He said military solution cannot bring peace and stability in the region. He asked India and Pakistan to sit together on the negotiating table to solve the Kashmir issue.

Qaumi Watan Party Chief Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said India is creating war hysteria and violating ceasefire agreement by resorting to unprovoked firing on the Line of Control. He said India should know that Pakistan has superiority over it of having tactical weapons and any aggression will be responded forcefully and accordingly. He said India is committing grave human rights violations in Kashmir and the world community should take notice of this situation.

National Party leader Mir Kabeer Ahmed Muhammad Shahi said the people of Pakistan are standing with their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle of right to self-determination. He said martyrdom of Burhan Wani has given a new dimension to freedom struggle in Kashmir.
