Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday rejected the government’s Terms of References (TORs) that were set in regards to the investigation commission made to probe the Panama Leaks.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah and PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with one another in Islamabad on Monday and had discussion in regards to the investigation of the assets owned by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family. Khurshid Shah stated that the PM’s moral position as of now is rather weak as he is unable to decide whether he is arranging processions against PTI or himself.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Khurshid Shah stated that the government’s TORs in regards to the Panama Leaks investigation commission cannot be accepted adding that if the accountability process is kicked off from the time of the country’s independence, then it will take a century to the process to be completed.

He also said that the government’s letter to the Chief Justice in regards to the investigation commission is pointless as all the opposition parties have rejected it.

He stated that the opposition’s strategy to cater the issue shall be made till May 2.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that if the government intends to introduce a capable commission to deal with the matter then it needs to take the opposition into account as well. He stated that there is unanimity among PPP and PTI about the Panama Leaks issue but the government is trying to segregate the opposition.

Qureshi stated that both the parties are making collective effort to deal with the issue. He also said that his thoughts regarding the matter were delivered to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto through an unnamed friend.

The PTI leader said that the parties who have rejected the TORs will make the strategy for the future adding that the people of Sindh are equally troubled with the Panama Leaks issue as the Sindhi people have always actively participated in every democratic movement.
