To commemorate the commencement of the annual breast cancer awareness month, which begins on October 1 after the PINKtober Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s building in the federal capital was lighted in pink on Saturday.
The organization Pink Ribbon Pakistan, which works to increase awareness of breast cancer, is in charge of the annual campaign.
The gathering, which took place at Pakistan’s highest court, was planned to show support for the campaign and the many Pakistani women.
Omer Aftab, the founder of Pink Ribbon, said it is an honor for his organization to shine a light on Pakistan’s top court for such a worthwhile cause.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial for his “kind support” for the cause in a statement released by Pink Ribbon, saying that his “involvement of such a holy institution has offered hope to thousands of breast cancer patients in Pakistan.”
Due to misinformation, delayed diagnosis, and breast cancer misconceptions, at least 40,000 people die from the disease each year. Only breast cancer, among the other types of cancer, can be successfully treated if discovered at an early stage.
According to the most recent figures, nearly 10 million Pakistani women are at a high risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime, according to Pink Ribbon.
“Our healthcare system needs to be rebuilt with more recent data on illness burden. A better healthy lifestyle can prevent breast cancer by up to 40%, thus it is also necessary to spread the idea that prevention is preferable to cure “The sentence was read.
