Pakistan’s new Army Chief appointee Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa who with the appointment will be promoted to a four-star General was previously at the GHQ as Inspector General of Training and Evaluation. He will assume the charge of Chief of Army Staff on November 29, Lt Gen Bajwa has also commanded the 10 Corps which is the army’s largest corp and is responsible for the area along the Line of Control (LoC).
The General also has extensive experience of handling affairs in Kashmir and the northern areas of the country. He has also led the Force Command Northern Areas.
Lt Gen Bajwa has also served with a UN mission in Congo as a brigade commander. He has also remained the commandant of the Infantry School in Quetta. The General is from the infantry’s Baloch Regiment.
He is also the recipient of Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).
