
In a show of force to impose sanctions against Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine, US President Joe Biden’s administration on Tuesday put five Chinese companies on a trade blacklist for allegedly helping Russia’s military and defense industrial base.
Before the invasion on February 24, the targeted companies allegedly delivered goods to Russian “entities of concern,” according to the Commerce Department, which also noted that they “continue to contract to provide listed and sanctioned parties with Russian entities.
According to the Federal Register article, the government also added 31 other businesses from nations like Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Lithuania, Pakistan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam to the blacklist. 25 of the 36 new enterprises have activities in China.
