In a major upset, Pakistan defeated India by 13 runs in the Women’s Asia Cup on Friday, the third time the arch-rivals have been defeated in T20 cricket. Nida Dar set up her team’s victory by scoring a fifty and taking two wickets at crucial moments. The Indian team scored 124 runs and was bowled out in the 20th over while chasing a 137-run target.

After the victory, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof said it was a crucial game for them after they had lost the previous day.”We did a great job with the execution. Nida batted brilliantly. We simply desired to take calculated risks. Nida pitched an important inning for us. We have gaps in the middle, and we know Nida can’t hit, so we look to hit the strength areas.”

Pakistan’s captain stated that they read the conditions well today and executed the plans flawlessly. Harmanpreet Kaur, India’s captain, praised Pakistan for playing “good cricket” in the match, which they won. “We offer other batters a chance because this is what you must do as the event goes on,” he says, “but it failed.” We weren’t able to start taking singles and tilts strike in the middle overs.
