incohnINCHEON: Maratab Ali finally put Pakistan on the medals table, securing bronze in the 70-kg Wushu event after losing his semi-final bouth to Chinese opponent, Kun Zhang at the 17th Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, South Korea..

Ali had defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Nurlanbek Mamataliev 2-0 to make it to the semis.

On the competition’s third day, Pakistan suffered a major blow to their medals hope when judoka Shah Hussain Shah crashed out in the 100kg quarter-finals at the Duwon Gymnasium.

Hours later at the Hwaseong Stadim, the country’s football team suffered a 1-0 loss to China which saw them crash out after finishing bottom of Group ‘F’.

Pakistan’s fortunes hadn’t been any better at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium as Abdullah Khan suffered a 2-0 defeat to India’s Narender Grewal in the men’s 60kg sanda quarter-final of the wushu competition.
