Following the devastating floods that hit the nation on Tuesday, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) stated that it was moving “fast” to offer a “substantial” relief and reconstruction package.
The package is intended to “help people, livelihoods, and infrastructure immediately and over time,” according to a statement from the ADB.
The bank stated that it would employ ongoing initiatives in the short and medium terms to rebuild damaged infrastructure, such as roads and irrigation infrastructure, as well as to assist the growth and financial stability of the farm sector to increase food security.
In order to help the poor and vulnerable, particularly women and children, withstand the effects of rising food prices and other external shocks, the ADB added that it was also processing countercyclical funding.
Long-term, we’ll give priority to initiatives that boost disaster and climate resilience and aid in post-flood rehabilitation.”We will provide more details about our new help program once it is finished. The ADB continued by saying, “We will work closely with the government and other international organizations to help reconstruct the lives and livelihoods of the more than 33 million people affected by the tragedy.
