ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office on Wednesday apprised the European Union and the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) to raise voice against human rights violations by security forces in India-held Kashmir.

Briefing the diplomats from European Union (EU) countries about the Kashmir situation, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry urged the European countries to raise their voice against the blatant human rights violations committed by Indian forces in held Kashmir.

Chaudhry urged the EU nations to condemn the human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir and play its role to ensure that Indian government or forces do not violate human rights while dealing with citizens of the valley and those responsible for the current unrest in which more than 25 people were killed, should be probed.

The foreign secretary separately briefed ambassadors from the OIC countries about the issue and urged them to take notice of what he termed blatant violation of human rights by Indian forces in the valley.

Diplomats from Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Niger and other OIC countries attended the briefing.

On Tuesday, Aizaz Chaudhry had briefed the ambassadors of China, France, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States, and conveyed Pakistan’s serious concern over the recent wave of violence against Kashmiri people and the continued violation of their fundamental human rights by the Indian security forces.
