ISLAMABAD:\u00a0 Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affiars, Sartaj Aziz, held a joint press conference in which both representatives vowed to fight terrorism together.\r\n\r\nSpeaking on the occasion, the Turkish Foreign Minister made it clear that he had spoken to Sartaj Aziz on the issue of US-based cleric Gueln, whose schools are still operational in Pakistan. Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Turkey had backed Pakistan's stance on Kashmir in the recent past as well. He said that Pakistan and Turkey both had been hit hard by militancy and terrorism hence the need for both states to jointly combat this challenge was necessary.\r\n\r\nSartaj Aziz also spoke on the occasion and said that Pakistan and Turkey would fight terrorism together. He also said that Pakistan and Turkey's thoughts on how to maintain peace in Afghanistan were similar. The Turkish Foreign Minister also praised Pakistan and said that relations between both states were brotherly.\r\n\r\n"After the attempted coup,this is my first visit to any country" said Cavusoglu. "I am very happy to be in Pakistan and thank the country for their support," he added.\r\n\r\nSartaj Aziz also said that the Turkish people had foiled the attempts by a certain section of the Turkish army to stage a coup and overthrow the democratic government of Erdogan and Prime Minister Yildrim. Sartaj also reminded the Turkish Foreign Minister that the parliament of Pakistan had passed a resolution condemning the attempted military coup in Turkey.\r\n\r\nThe Turkish Foreign Minister on the other hand praised Pakistan's efforts in maintaining peace in Afghanistan and hoped the two countries would jointly combat the challenges that they face.
