ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will not be able to participate in the upcoming Asian Boxing Championship due to travel restrictions in Dubai.
According to the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), seven men and two women boxers were all set to feature in the Asian event, scheduled from May 24 to 31, but travel restrictions on Pakistanis will cost them this extravaganza.
In the men’s category, Mohammad Saeed, Mohibullah, Suleman Baloch, Amir Khan, Saifullah Mannan, Mohammad Ajmal, Sanaullah were lined up to represent Pakistan whereas Raksha Ghaffar, Rukhsana Parveen were the female contestants.
“We got special permission from the UAE government for participation but due to limited flight operations we can’t go there in time,” informed the General Secretary of PBF, Nasir Tang.
