Pakistan seek first win at the World Cup

Pakistan will look to make amends for their performance against India when they take on West Indies in Christchurch today. Both Pakistan and West Indies are under pressure after losing their respective opening games against India and Ireland.

A loss for any team will seriously dent their chance of progress to the quarter-finals. Both teams also have the misfortune of losing their best spin bowler just before the mega event.

Since the 2007 World Cup when West Indies Pakistan the two teams have met 16-times, with Pakistan on top with 11 wins. West Indies however have the upper hand in One Day Internationals head to head with 69 wins to their name against Pakistan’s 55. Another interesting stat is that West Indies are on a four match losing streak in the World Cup, they have never lost five consecutive matches.

In the Pool A game, Australia will take on Bangladesh in Brisbane.
