ISLAMABAD : Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy long-standing and deep-rooted relations. He was talking to Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki here on Tuesday. The minister said that both the countries have always supported each other’s stance on international issues. “Hearts of the people of both the countries beat together,” he added. The meeting was a part of the Saudi envoy’s routine contacts with Pakistani lawmakers and officials. A day earlier, on Monday, Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman and former deputy speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi met the Saudi envoy at his office. During a press talk on Monday, Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are aligned in their stance on Kashmir and their ties remain strong and stable. Qureshi’s remarks come just weeks after he sparked controversy with statements over the Organization of Islamic Countries being lukewarm on Pakistan’s territorial dispute with arch-rival India over Kashmir.
