The joint military parade of Pakistan’s armed forces will be held today in Islamabad on March 23rd ‘National Day of the country’. Incumbent Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif initiated the military parade last year after the gab of seven years. Before that last military parade was held in March, 2008 during the tenure of former President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf.
Full dress rehearsals for Pakistan Day parade held yesterday. Participating troops of the Parade include foot columns of Army, Navy, Pakistan Air Force, Frontier Corps, Northern Light Infantry, Mujahid Force, Islamabad Police, tri-service Lady officers, tri-service Armed Forces, Nursing Service Girls Guide, Boys Scouts, Special Service Group from three Services, mechanized columns of Armoured, Corps Artillery, Army Air Defence, Signals, Engineers Army, Strategic Force, Command Camel Band and President’s Body Guard.
The parade holds a significant place in Pakistan’s history. The commendable decision to hold the military parade shows the resolve of the armed forces to cleanse the country from the menace of terrorism. COAS has vowed to continue fight against terrorism until the very last terrorist is eliminated from the country. The Army Chief recently warned the terrorists that they will have no place to hide and they will be targeted wherever they are found. The sound of roaring jets of Pakistan Air Force above Islamabad’s sky and the ground troops parading with Pakistan’s state of the art weapons are bound to create fear in the heart of every element working against the country. The courageous step of holding the military parade is a stern warning to all anti-Pakistan forces that the military is ready to crush them.
