ISLAMABAD: President Society Watch Khalid Mehmood on Sunday said Pakistan is best suited to use solar power to reduce energy crisis, balance emery mix and reduce dependence of imported fuel.
The nation need same zeal as expressed in achieving nuclear power as local oil and gas extraction has not progressed while pace of development on Thar coal is far from satisfactory, he said.
Khalid Mehmood said that dams has become victim of politics while dependence on imported fuel has make Pakistan a country that cannot survive without aid.
Oil import bill has become unsustainable which calls for immediate action on all the fronts with solar power on the top of all energy projects, he demanded.
He said that sun is a source of clean, sustainable and infinite energy with no chance of any disruption like political issues, volatility in oil market and conspiracies of the enemy countries.
That is why, he said, solar energy is getting popular around the world and its use can improve by forty percent in next five years.
He called for special relaxations for the companies working in solar power field as these projects are completed is less time as compare to any other energy project.
No single power plant type, whether hydel or thermal or nuclear or solar, can be completely relied upon to meet the country’s energy demands.
Our energy mix, with a heavy reliance on expensive imported fuels, has deteriorated over the past two decades damaging forex reserves. Hence, cleaner, quicker and natural solar power will be a great addition to the existing energy mix. NNI
