ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi Monday said Pakistan attaches great importance to ties with Iran and expressed hope that both sides would continue to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
He was talking to the newly appointed Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost who paid a courtesy call on him, here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tariq Fatemi welcomed Ambassador Honardoost to Islamabad, and felicitated him on his appointment.
He said Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with Iran, and assured him of full support in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Fatemi expressed hope that his presence in Islamabad would help further strengthen the relationship between the two brotherly countries, with both sides continuing to explore new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Honardoost thanked the Special Assistant for the warm welcome extended to him by the government of Pakistan.
He expressed his strong resolve to work towards maintaining the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation, trade, tourism, energy as well as people-to-people contacts. NNI
