PAK-IRAN BORDER STATUS: FACTS VS PROPAGANDA

The Government of Pakistan has strongly refuted recent false claims circulating on certain social media platforms regarding the closure of the Pakistan-Iran border. These baseless assertions—primarily propagated by anti-Pakistan accounts linked to Afghan and Indian networks—are part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public and undermining Pakistan’s regional diplomatic standing.

Authorities have confirmed that the Pakistan-Iran border remains open and fully operational, with routine cross-border movement continuing without disruption.

Due to the prevailing security situation inside Iran, there has been a temporary decrease in commercial activity, and the movement of Pakistani religious pilgrims (Zaireen) to Iran is currently paused. Some Zaireen and other visitors already in Iran are returning to Pakistan. However, officials have confirmed that there is no abnormal activity at any border crossings.

Pakistan remains firmly committed to regional peace and cooperation. All border-related decisions are taken in line with ground realities and national security assessments—not due to foreign influence or sectarian considerations.

The government emphasizes the importance of responsible journalism and fact-based reporting. Spreading unverified or misleading information only serves hostile interests and threatens the fragile stability of the region.
