Pak-China Resettlement Centre to be set up at PU

LAHORE:  Punjab University Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, expanding its international collaboration and academic networks, will establish Pak-China Resettlement Centre in collaboration with Hohai University China.

In this regard, Hohai University Public Administration School‘s Prof. Dr. Guoqing Shi, and Dr. Yin Jianjun visited ISCS where Dean Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Director ISCS Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakar along with faculty members including Dr. Rubeena Zakar, Rahla Rahat, Dr. Ahmed Usman and Ayesha Bugvi welcomed the guests.

The delegation also included senior officials of NESPAK Mr. Irfan ul Haq and Mr. Imran ul Haq and Mr. Nayyar Abbas from WAPDA.

Representatives from both the universities discussed the potential areas of collaboration for conducting joint research and capacity building activities. More specifically the collaborative arrangements will include training of young faculty members, provision of consultancy services and exchange of students.

The visiting Chinese professors appreciated and acknowledged the capacity and commitment of ISCS faculty, their scientific and developmental work and their specialized knowledge and expertise in the areas of resettlement and rehabilitation. Prof. Dr. Guoqing Shi and Prof. Dr. Zakria Zakar being deans of their respective faculties, agreed to establish China-Pak Center for Resettlement and Social Safeguards at Punjab University for which preliminary work has already been started.
