Pak-China Joint Working Group review progress on Mega projects

BEIGING (DNA) : The third session of Pak-China Joint Working Group held in Beijing on Wednesday to review progress on the proposed mega development project in Pakistan.

Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal led Pakistani side while Chinese Vice President for Reforms Commission for National Development Xu Shaoshi represented his country.

In his remarks, Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan wants to finalize financial aspects of Pak-China corridor by the end of this year so that physical work on the project could be launched.

He said Pakistan appreciates Chinese assistance for economic development and hope that the forthcoming visit of Chinese President to Islamabad will help expedite pace of our economic progress. He said the government is paying special attention on the completion of megaprojects in energy, transport and infrastructure development sectors. He expressed the confidence that Pakistan will be able to complete these megaprojects up to 2018.

Ahsan Iqbal said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already announced Vision 2025 for rapid development of Pakistan adding that he is visualizing completion of this vision with the cooperation of China within stipulated time.

In his remarks, Chinese Vice-President Xu Shaoshi said his country wants for expediting development process in the region in collaboration with Pakistan. He said China will continue working with Pakistan for completion of its development projects.

He said Chinese government and private electric companies with continue to work for enhancing power generation in Pakistan to mitigate energy crisis. He said China wants to ensure sustainable progress on all mega development projects in Pakistan in the coming years.
