LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhary on Tuesday lambasted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by stating that the nation rejects such Terms of References (TORs) which have been introduced in order to facilitate certain members of Imran Khan’s party.

While talking to a private television channel, Talal Chaudhary criticised the TORs presented by the opposition parties in regards to the investigation commission probing into the Panama Leaks.

He inquired that why the opposition parties omitted the clause regarding the punishment of the loan waivers if it did not have any reservations with that clause in particular. Referring towards certain members of PTI, Chaudhary stated that the TORs have been formed “to protect the ATM machines”.

He added that a number of “nobles” have waived off their loans and stated that the opposition parties need not to hide behind the TORs as Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has already presented himself for investigation of the Panama Leaks issue.

He stated that the government has reservations regarding the omission of the clause catering to the waiving of loans as the ones involved in loan waiving will have to face the consequences, adding that new TORs can be introduced but the older ones cannot be obliterated. He criticised the alliance of the opposition parties by stating that the alliance has been formed to “delete the TORs, not to add them”.

Talal Chaudhary stated that his party is ready to go to any forum in regards to the investigation of the issue, further adding that the PM has repeatedly offered that investigation of the matter be initiated from him but the opposition parties are obstructing the accountability process whereas the government wants to carry it on. “The people should know about those who waived off loans and taxes”, he said.
