ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties in the National Assembly Tuesday staged walkout from the House to protest over the absence of Ministers while women members strongly protested over not giving equal opportunities to speak in the house and threatened to also boycott the proceedings.

PPP’s Chief Whip Aijaz Jakhrani on a point of order drew the attention of the speaker towards the absence of the Ministers. He said the parliament has been made a joke by the Ministers. He said empty front row seats were sending a negative message outside.

To register their protest, PPP, PTI and other opposition parties’ members staged walkout from the house.  They also staged walkout and the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad persuaded the opposition members to return to the house.

On a point of order PTI’s Aisha Gul raised the issue of non provision of development funds to women members and equal opportunities to participate in the proceedings and threatened that the opposition women members would boycott the proceedings if this trend continued.  She said while there are talks of justice to Kashmiris and people of Pakistan but women members are totally ignored.
