ISLAMABAD: The combined opposition in the lower house of Parliament on Monday staged a walkout from the National Assembly session against the unscheduled load shedding in different parts of the country including Karachi and over death of scores of people in heatwave .
The lawmakers who staged walkout were included members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Pakistan Peoples party, Muttahia Qaumi movement, Qumi Watan Party , Awami Muslim League and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Speaking to reporters outside the parliament house, Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said that it seems the government might not be able fulfill its claim to end the power crisis by 2018.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that federal government completely failed to overcome power shortage. The opposition parties chanted slogans against the government of its negligence to take necessary steps for bottling the monster of load shedding.
Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, leader of the Qumi Watan Party (QWP), said that Mosques were facing extreme scarcity of water, adding that announcements were made for holding protest against the government.
Sheikh Rasheed of the Awami Muslim League (AML) called upon the national assembly speaker to switch off the air conditioners of the assembly hall and hold the session without air condition so that the members could realize the importance of the matter.
Jamaat-e-Islami members of the parliament were holding play cards and staged protest in front of the speaker against the unscheduled load shedding.
