ISLAMABAD: The opposition parties in the National Assembly Thursday moved a joint privilege motion in the National Assembly saying that the Prime minister in his speech in the national assembly deceived the house about trail of money in the purchase of London property.
The motion signed by leader of the opposition Syed Khursheed Shah, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and others said under rule 95 of rules of procedure and conduct of business in the national assembly, the plea taken by the Prime Minister’s lawyer in the Supreme Court on 16th of January to do away with Mian Nawaz Sharif’s speech delivered in the house while explaining the trail of funds used to purchase property in London and elsewhere as mentioned in Panamapepers using article 66 as a shield are an admission that the Prime Minister did not tell the truth to the Assembly.
The movers said the Prime Minister while speaking in the National Assembly on 16th May, 2016 had explained the trail of funds used to purpose property in one of the most expensive area of London.
However they said the details shared by his lawyer in the Supreme Court are in shear contrast with the ones stated by the Prime Minister in the House which illustrates that Mr Nawaz Sharif wilfully deceived the house on the issue which is clear case of contempt of the house.
They further stated that this is blatant breach of the privilege of the whole House and should be discussed immediately in the National Assembly.
