Open manhole claims man life

RAWALPINDI (NNI): Dead body of a man who drowned in an open manhole after falling in it was recovered by rescue 1122 in Marrir Chowk Murree Road here on Tuesday morning.

According to Rescue sources, some manholes for electricity and telephone wires in connection with metro bus project were constructed on Murree Road and left open by the contractors. On Monday evening open manholes and road were inundated from heavy rain water.

A passerby man fell into one of the manholes located in Marrir Chowk. Police and rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene and recovered the deceased.

The body was shifted to district headquarter civil hospital where the deceased could not be identified yet. Police started investigation and search for the heirs.
