The Pakistan team has gone to India to play the T20 world cup. The Indian extremists had threatened that they will not let Pakistani team play in India until Pakistan does not investigate and nominate the accused of Pathankot incident and Mumbai attacks. Here comes a question in my mind that why India always becomes aggressive and tries to let down Pakistan even when it continuously finds a good will gesture from the other side.
Since the PMLN won the general elections of 2013, Nawaz Sharif invited the Prime Minister of India to join him in his swearing-in ceremony as the Prime Minister, but he didn’t come. On the victory of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Indian elections held in 2014, Narendra Modi reciprocated the invitation of his counterpart by inviting him in his oath taking ceremony. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif went to attend the ceremony as a good will gesture.
However this positive turn was nullified by incidents of unprovoked violation by Indian Army of the ceasefire not only across the LoC but even at the international border.
The Foreign Secretaries-level bilateral talks were to be held on 25th of August, 2015. India cancelled the talks following criticism of Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit meeting with the Hurriat leader Shabbir Shah. That was a setback to the efforts of Pakistani leadership to promote good neighborly The Modi’s surprised visit to Pakistan, while going back to India from Afghanistan was a good step to promote peace and good diplomatic relations between the two countries, but unfortunately this initiative was also abolished, as India was attacked in Pathankot Air Base and hostile statements came from their side regarding Pakistan that terrorists had come from there and they don’t want the peace process prevailing between the two countries. India demanded Pakistan to investigate this case.
A FIR was registered in Pakistan and the reports of investigation were shared with the Indian authorizes regarding this issue, also Pakistan will send an investigation team to India to collect the evidences of the attack.
Here the question being raised is that the spokesperson of the Foreign Office says that we have requested the Indian authorities to share the report of the investigation of “Saneha Samjhota Express” but they have not shared any information yet. Then why there should be the one sided good will gesture.
The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shehryar Khan visited India to have cricket series between the two sides, they not only refused to play cricket in Pakistan but also the extremists under the aegis of the ruling party swooped at the BCCI and threatened the Pakistani delegation. Those extremists threatened the organizers of Atif Aslams concert, which resulted in the cancellation of the event.
They also attacked the organizer of the event of book launching ceremony of the ex- Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and smeared his face with black Pakistan faced a strong opposition from the Indian side on USA’s selling of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.
In the recent exposure to the media, the spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that Pakistan has released 87 Indian prisoners as a good will gesture. On question of the number from the other side to reciprocate your initiative, he had the figure of 04 who were being released in 2016.
Pakistan should have good diplomatic and trade relations with the neighboring countries including India, but they must be on the basis of equality.
Pakistani team enjoyed a protocol as the Prime Minister does. The reason of making it happen was the solid stance by the Interior Minister that we will not send our team to play in India until thee assure us fool proof security of our team. That looks to be the end of one sided good will gesture.
