On sidelines of UNGA: Nawaz, Erdogan meet, discuss Afghanistan


NEW YORK: Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday met his Turkish counterpart Ahmed Dawood and Turkish President Recep Teyyep Erdogan at the United Nations (UN)headquarters. The three leaders discussed the situation in Afghanistan and agreed to improve mutual cooperation.

Turkish President said on this occasion that Turkey enjoys deep friendly ties with Pakistan and admired Pakistan’s war against terrorism. Foreign Advisor Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Minister of Information Technology Anusha Rehman and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry were present on this occasion.

PM also met with his Italian counterpart Matteo Renzi. Both the leaders agreed to strengthen ties on the level of European Union (EU) and UN. They also agreed to improve bilateral trade and economic relations.
