United States is under threat with the North Korea’s nuclear-armed missile program and feels more threatened by the submissive attitude of Kim Jong Un. The dictator who took his office in 2011 has given air to the hatred against United States. With its sixth and most unclear powerful test which it calls ‘A Perfect Success’ it has proved the world that it is not putting end to the weapons of mass destruction he has just initiated. It is speculated that this program is capable of even worst destruction as that of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. United States spearheaded extensive sanctions on North Korea after its ongoing obstinacy but failed to get any results. No rein on its economy is able to control Pyongyang. North Korea has left world stunt with every sanction that has been imposed until now. It not only faces backlash from United States but from many other prominent states as well. China joined the recently imposed sanctions against North Korea which not only curbed imports of North Korean coal but also reduced the size of diplomatic staff and bank accounts in their countries. But what makes North Korea so stubborn has been answered in one of the leaked report of U.N.As per this report the reason North Korea was able to circumvent these sanctions lays within the flaws of these sanctions. It says, “The actual implementation of the sanctions lags far behind what is necessary to achieve the core goal of denuclearization”. The report also puts forward the lack of cooperation from other states as that of Malaysia and Vietnam who was able to import coal from North Korea after the China abandoned it. It is likely to hit Africa and Middle East as well. When the North Korea continues dodging the world sanctions, the question arises about the amount of these sanctions which are not able to match the strength of those that were meant for Iran and Iraq. Statements from Donald Trump like “fire and fury like the world has never seen” and “total annihilation of a country, namely North Korea,” gives a contradictory message than a peaceful solution but it seems that whatever the message may be, nothing is able to stop Kim Jong Un from the road of destruction that he has set his foot in.
