LANDI KOTAL: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan rejecting allegations of presence of terrorist groups in Pakistan has declared that no terrorist group is operating from Pakistani soil and told Afghanistan not to play the game of others against Pakistan.
Talking to media persons here Wednesday after getting a detailed briefing from Commander of Frontier Corps the Interior Minister without naming the allegations by the US and Afghan leaders said after the Zarb e Azb operation, all the terrorists in tribal areas have either been killed or they have escaped to Afghanistan.
The Minister was responding to allegations by the US and Afghanistan about the presence of Haqqani network.
He said peace has been achieved in FATA and other parts of the country at a great price by the officers, men of FC and other security forces. He said the armed forces, civilian armed forces, levies, police and Khasadars are fighting the war for the sovereignty and security of Pakistan. They have written a history of bravery. He said 1284 FC officers and Jawans have been killed, 3600 injured and 282 disabled. He said the security forces are fighting the war for the security of the tribal people but terrorism has not been completely eliminated. He said the nation would not forget their sacrifices. He lauded the role of the tribal people for their contributions in restoration of peace and order.
Nisar said that the number of terrorism related cases has gone down to 784 in 2016 which is the lowest since 2005. He said while terrorism graph is going upward in the world, in Pakistan it is going down.
The Interior Minister said the hardwork of General Raheel Sharif would be remembered in the history. He said the former COAS led from the front and the government extended full support to him.
He said now we have to focus on crossing the border by the terrorists who attack our people like cowards. He said the border is more than 2400 km and by 2020 there would be only six border crossings between the two countries.
He said new wings of FC are being raised with an allocation of Rs 70 billion and they would be ready for taking up duties in July next year to gradually relieve the army.
The Interior Minister said peace in Pakistan is linked with peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan wants peace on both sides and free movement of people and goods. He said a NADRA office would be established in Landi Kotal.
Referring to the Afghan side of the border, the Minister asked the Afghan leadership not to blame Pakistan at the behest of others, a reference to India.
He said before border management measures, almost 30,000 people were crossing the borders on both sides and terrorists were taking advantage of this influx. INP
