Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa while interacting with the youth undergoing an annual internship program at Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), advised them to have confidence in themselves, adhere to merit, and follow the rule of law and not to look for shortcuts in life for success. He said Pakistan is blessed with dynamic and talented youth and that the future of Pakistan belongs to them and expressed full confidence in Pakistani youth and expected them to play their due role to take Pakistan to its rightful destination of progress and prosperity adding that Pakistan has been subjected to numerous challenges especially during the last two decades and Pakistani nation and its armed forces have forcefully withstood the challenges and in that youth has played a lead role. COAS was right in saying there is no shortcut to success, one has to climb the stairs of hard-work. Habitually, when we look at the successful people we only see their success and we believe they are unique, special or in some way blessed. What we rarely see is the amount of hard work these people put in. They spent their time in learning their skill and practicing their talent. They experiment, make mistakes and build the kind of knowledge no university or school can ever teach. Another important element in such persons’ success is their love and passion for the profession. They not only live and breathe learning skills, they always work to get better. And that is what success is all about. It’s about going past your margins, pushing beyond your own concept of success. While trying new things you may face failure, but you just want to see if it will work. It means long hours of hard work and loving every minute of it. The vast majority of people, although capable, are not prepared to make the sacrifices essential to achieving success. Most people buy into the belief that a good life is a work-life balance with two holidays a week, an average sized house in an average street, driving an average car to an average nine to five job. That is not success. That is average. Searching for what you really love doing is worth investigating. Because when you find what you really enjoy doing, your whole life will change. Now you have a purpose, you have a goal and you love every minute of it. That is a life worth-living. All you need to do is focusing for information that can improve your life, stimulate your passion and give you the energy to learn more. This is actually what the Chief of Army Staff means. That is how you can build a successful life.
