Says country can’t be allowed to become Somalia, Iraq and Libya

ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (INP): Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that no one would be allowed to invade Islamabad as this would set a bad precedence of violent gatherings every few months.

Presiding over a meeting of senior officials on law and order here on Tuesday, the Interior Minister directed that protection of the lives and properties of the citizens must be ensured. He said those threatening of breaking the hands of policemen and slitting the throats of law enforcers cannot be given a free hand in Islamabad.

He said the country cannot be allowed to become Somalia, Libya or Iraq. He ordered that unauthorized people should not be allowed to enter the red zone on or after 14th August.

The Interior Minister said 21,000 personnel of Police, Rangers and FC would be deployed in Islamabad to deal with any untoward situation. He asked the police and administration of the twin cities to cooperate with each other.

Nisar also advised the police and administration to ensure that day to day affairs of the citizens were least affected by the political and non political activities on the occasion of 14th August.

He made it clear that political activities under constitution and law by every one would be respected but no one would be allowed to invade the capital and paralyze the lives of the citizens.

He directed the administration to keep a strict watch on the entry and exit points particularly the unfrequented routes to ensure peace and tranquility in the twin cities.
