ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that in future the names in Exit Control List will be put for only one year.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad Sunday, the Interior Minister said that no name will be put in ECL on the political basis. He said the names will be put in ECL on the recommendation of the Court or Investigation Agencies’ recommendations. He said by now about seven thousand and five hundred Pakistani are on the ECL.
The Interior Minister said that the government is working on a policy to regulate the use of bullet proof vehicles. He said under the policy only the license holders will be allowed to assemble the bullet proof vehicles.
Talking about the arms licenses, the Interior Minister said that the government has imposed ban on the new licenses but unfortunately three provinces Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan have lifted the ban. He said efforts are underway to take these provinces into confidence for imposing ban on the arms licenses.
He said that in future prohibited bore licenses will be issued to only those persons who have number one security threat. He said licenses will also not be issued to those below 25 years of age. Similarly non tax payers will also be not issued arms licenses.
Chaudhry Nisar said during the revalidation of the arms licenses about four thousand five hundred licenses were found fake. He said the revalidation date for the arms licenses will be 31st December this year.
To a question, the Interior Minister said that ninety-three thousand unverified votes which were cast in NA-122 are not fake or bogus. He said the Election Tribunals will decide about the election petitions.
Nisar said that God is witness that National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) was not pressure, asking why election tribunal judges don’t give shut up call to those leveling allegations.
The Interior Minister lashed out at those leveling rigging allegations on the government. He said those terming ninety three thousand voters fake should fear God, adding that the allegation that government pressured NADRA is false.
He said that regarding NA-122, NADRA has been able to verify 70,000 votes. He added that 93,000 votes could not be verified as the paper was not used properly by voters, adding it does not mean that the votes were bogus.
“For God sake someone speak truth to the nation,” he pleaded. “Why are tribunal judges letting them put up a spectacle?”
Federal minister termed the rigging allegation as a joke with the nation. He said those who tell stretched tales to the nation should feel ashamed at very least. He said the votes that could not be verified are not fake.
Chaudhry Nisar said everyone is stating their point of view in the media, asking why the tribunal judges are letting everyone stage a spectacle.
He called for shutting up of all stakeholders. NNI
