ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has put on hold implementation of agreements with foreign countries about transfer of convicted Pakistani prisoners. The decision was taken after investigations revealed that over the past several years Pakistani prisoners involved in heinous crimes were brought back and they secured release with the connivance of officials of Interior Ministry and provincial governments. The Interior Minister said that the order will remain in place till a transparent policy was put in place about the transfer of convicted prisoners. He also ordered an inquiry report within a week about those convicts released in the past and directed that all these people be arrested and legal action taken against them. Nisar further instructed that no leniency should be shown to the officers who defamed the good name of Pakistan in the world by releasing the convicts on their home coming. INP
