Nine precious animals/birds die in Marghzar Zoo in six months

ISLAMABAD: A total of nine precious animals/birds died in the Marghzar Zoo of the federal capital during the last six months due to poor veterinary services and lack of proper look after by the concerned staff.

According to details, Nilgai (female)died of Dystocia, fetal bags/membrane rupture inside uterus in September this year. A black Buck(male) also died in September due to Maggot wound present at pelvic regions at two sides and also internal injuries due to cannibalism.

In August, 2015 a Grey wolf died for unknown reasons. In the same month, a Urial suddenly died due to cardio vascular failure, the zoo sources claimed.

Other precious birds that died in the past six months included Common Peafowl, Golden Phjeasant, Mallard Duck and White duck.
