NHA… A sad state of affairs?

Senators’ concerns need to be addressed at the earliest

Patriot Report

ISLAMABAD: NHA is again in news and sadly again not for the good reasons. First it was Mr. Shahid Ashraf Tarar enjoying four offices at the same time in sheer violation of the law and equity that stirred many conundrums and now the operation of NHA has raised a crunch question, prima facie, detrimental to the federation as well.

None other than the Senate Committee on Communication has shown complete dissatisfaction on the way NHA is operating. It is pertinent to mention here that the committee regretted that the NHA was ignoring road projects in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh while those in Punjab were being timely completed.

The fact is not denying that Mr Chairman belongs to Punjab and such on allegation on the working of NHA can make things more complicated.

The displeasure of Senate Committee on the attitude of Chairman NHA Mr Tarar is evident from the fact that after the briefing of Chairman NHA to the Committee the Chairman of the standing committee Mr daud Achakzai openly regretted that  NHA officials always came up with new ways of hiding facts.

It is also pertinent to mention here that CPEC ( China Pak Economic Corridor) is one of the most important project of the history of Pakistan and NHA is not working properly. This is evident from the fact that the Senate Committee has already shown dissatisfaction on NHA work in this regard.

This state of affairs speak volume of the fact that perhaps the favourite Chairman is overburdened with four offices at the same time. This may please him or his mentors but this nepotism is detrimental to the smooth running of the state institutions.
