PM convenes crucial meeting of political party leaders today
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the National Action Plan would destroy terrorists.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review legal aspects of the anti-terrorism national action plan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasised that no one could remain neutral in the war against terrorism. “The country’s civil and military leadership is united against terrorism and militancy.”
The meeting is being attended by federal ministers, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Army chief, DG ISI, legal experts and the attorney general.
Legal and constitutional matters for the formation of special courts for trials of terrorism cases are being discussed during the meeting.
“We will not let the sacrifices of our soldiers and the blood of innocent children in Peshawar go in vain,” Prime Minister Sharif said.
According to the prime minister, terrorists tried to change our attitude by creating fear, but they will not be successful under any cost. “We will take the war to terrorist safe havens.”
The prime minister during the meeting also directed Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz to raise the issue of two Pakistani Rangers being martyred by Indian forces.
Prime Minister Sharif has convened a meeting of all party leaders on Friday to review and focus on the National Action Plan for counter terrorism.
Earlier today, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah said that there was no discussion about setting up of special courts during the previous APC meeting. However, he said that all parties had agreed to amend the Army Act.
