Corps Commanders Conference was held at General Headquarters on Tuesday COAS General Raheel Sharif chaired the meeting where an exhaustive review of internal security situation was carried out.
COAS acknowledged progress of intelligence based operations and also appreciated achievements in ongoing operations to eliminate terrorism and extremism.
General Raheel also underlined need of more efforts for good governance for establishing long lasting peace in the country. He emphasized the need for matching and complementing governance initiatives for long-term gains of operation and enduring peace across the country. He also acknowledged the full support of the nation for the ongoing operations to eliminate terrorism and extremism and said the whole nation was on the back of the armed forces in this regard. He said efforts would be expedited for durable peace in the country.
It is reality that if Nation Action Plan would not be implemented with true letter and spirit, long lasting peace could not be established in the country. It is for sure that terror financing, madressah reforms, actions against proscribed outfits, and hate speech are some of the areas where progress has been found on snails pace.
Policy makers need to understand the urgency of matter, it is crucial to address each issue if we want roots of terrorism eradicated in true sense. If we would not be able to put all our efforts, successes of Rangers in Karachi and Operation Zarb-e-Azb in northern areas could be affected. Fighting militants in a specific area is not as hard as to rooting out the network of supply and support of terrorists.
It is tragic that matter of internal displaced people has been sidelined, COAS also urged on the need of overcoming all obstacles for development works in affected areas and rehabilitation of all displaced families on priority basis.
