In another tragic incident at least 26 people were killed as a result of a powerful suicide blast near the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Mardan on Tuesday. Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) splinter group Jamaatul Ahrar claimed responsibility of the attack. This group was also involved in the deadly blast at Wagah Border last year. The explosion ripped through the front entrance of a regional branch of NADRA. The blast took place at a time when the office was crowded with people lining up to submit applications for NIC’s. We are fighting a war against terror and after the success of military operation Zarb-e-Azb terrorists are on the run. Most of the terrorists either have been killed or forced to flee to the neighboring country Afghanistan. Some of the terrorists have spread in remote areas around the country and despite of the national consensus it seems that some of terrorist abettors are still active in our society. When terrorists could not fight with armed forces they try to find easy targets, mostly public places. Like in this suicide attack innocent citizens were targeted who were gathered at a public office. To tackle such cowardly terrorist attacks law enforcement agencies need to cooperate in intelligence sharing among them. Obviously terrorists can be tackled in the battle field but only sharp intelligence can tackle their obnoxious plans to target common man. There is also need to implement all 20 points of National Action Plan to put a full stop on terrorism. As long as the facilitators of terrorists are working without any hindrance it would not be possible to root out terrorism from our land.

Implementation in true letter and spirit of all 20 points of NAP is required to root out terrorism.
