GUJRANWALA: Unidentified intruders destroyed the record of the oil purchases and multi-million rupees payments in the security office of Nandipur Power Project Gujranwala, in mysterious circumstances on Thursday.
The incident took place in the midnight at the office of the Assistant Director (Security) in Admin Building of the project, sources said.
The incident, when came into the knowledge of the officials next morning, caused panic in the staff of the power project, which was deemed as most secured and protected.
The officials of a number of intelligence agencies, Rangers, police and Elite Force are posted at the project to ensure foolproof security of the project.
It is impossible for a layman to enter in the project in presence of such a high level security. The VIPs have also restricted access to certain portions of the project.
In presence of stringent security measures some unidentified persons entered in the office room of Assistant Director Security Capt. (retd) Mehtab Alam at around3:30 am midnight and torn apart papers from important files and destroyed the record, sources said.
The incident caused sensation and panic. The project administration immediately informed the district administration and police authorities about the incident.
The police has initiated an inquiry into the incident.
The officials of the forensic lab of the district police reached to the project with their equipment. The officials have collected fingerprints and other samples from the crime scene.
The officials while avoiding to speculate on the incident have said that the culprits could not escape from the grip of the law.
