ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) held under the Chairmanship of Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Thursday decided to file three corruption references.
First corruption reference was decided to file against Raja Pervez Ashraf, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, former Secretary Water and Power Shahid Rafi and others. The accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority by signing the contract without the approval of NPGCL and without approval of tariff from NEPRA in violation of NEPRA rules.
The second corruption reference will be filed against Sharjeel Inam Memon, former Sindh Minister for Information and others. The accused persons were alleged for corruption & corrupt practices in Sindh Information Department by creating fake bills at exorbitant rates.
The third reference will be against Dr. Ihsan Ali, Vice Chancellor of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged for misuse of authority in making illegal appointments of ineligible candidates depriving eligible students from their due right causing loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
The meeting also approved investigation against former IG Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali. There are allegations against Ghulam Hyder of embezzlements amounting Rs 120 crore while misusing his powers. Member of the Sindh Assembly, Abdul Sattar Rajper had also been alleged of having more assets than his income.
While presiding the meeting Chairman NAB said that the bureau is committed to eradicate corruption by adopting zero tolerance policy through awareness, prevention and enforcement strategy. He directed all officials of NAB to conduct all complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations against corrupt in accordance with laid down laws of NAB.
