NA Standing Committee on House and Library concerned over substandard maintenance work at Parliament Lodges

ISLAMABAD: NA Standing Committee on House and Library has expressed grave concern over the substandard maintenance work at Parliament Lodges and non-implementations of decisions of the Committee made during the previous meetings of the Committee. The Committee met under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi at Parliament House, today.

The members of the Committee apprised the Deputy Speaker that alleviators installed in different Blocks of Parliament Lodges are non-functional. The Deputy Speaker expressed its reservation over the non-functioning of alleviators and directed the CDA to take immediate steps to rectify the same.  The Committee also discussed PC-I presented by the CDA for the maintenance work at Parliament Lodges in details.  The Deputy Speaker said that the CDA has presented PC-I without homework and directed to reexamine the PC-I and unnecessary maintenance work should be excluded from it.

The Committee also adopted the report of the Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee on House & Library which was constituted under the convenorship of Dr. Ibadullah, MNA on issues pertaining to investigate the substandard maintenance work in the Family Cafeteria and family Suites at Parliament Lodges. The Committee directed the Chairman CDA to implement the recommendations of the Sub-Committee with letter and spirit and initiate inquiry against officers nominated by the Sub-Committee.

The Committee also discussed the progress report regarding the possession of the plots to employees of the National Assembly Secretariat by Joint Venture between Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society (FECHS) and National Assembly Secretariat Cooperative Employees Housing Society (NASECHS).  The Committee expressed its concerns over the delay in possession of plots to the employees of the National Assembly.  The Committee was informed by the President of Jinnah Housing Society that allotment letters to 1089 employees of the National Assembly Secretariat have been issued.

He further informed that 236 plots were ready for handing over the possession to the employees of the National Assembly and assured that possession of the plots will be handed over to the remaining employees of the National Assembly who have been issued the allotment letters till December, 2015.  The Deputy Speaker, National Assembly directed the President of the Housing Society to make sure to hand over the ready 236 plots to the employees of the National Assembly within a week and list of the handed over plots should be submitted in the next meeting of the Committee.

The members who attended the meeting were MNAs Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Mian Muhammad Rasheed, Sardar Mumtaz Khan, Dr. Ibadullah, Mr. Aqib Ullah Khan, Mrs. Shahida Rehmani Additional Secretary (A), National Assembly Secretariat Mr. Abdul Jabbar Ali, Chairman, CDA, and other senior functionaries of National Assembly Secretariat and CDA.
