It is very often discussed that after general elections, result of Lahore finalizes that which party to govern for next five years in centre. Political analysts believe that result of by-elections in NA-122 would describe the future course of two major political parties contesting. Therefore, unprecedented importance is being given to by-polls in NA-122 as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz have utilized all their energies to convince voters in their support.

It is not the matter of just one seat of National Assembly; it’s the matter of ego or pride for both parties. In case of PTI’s victory, its stance on rigging in 2013 general elections to go aggressive and they would try to come hard on the government. If PTI could not win, party leadership needs to sit all together to change their political behaviours. Perhaps people are not attracted towards politics of agitation, blames and they demand visionary and serious approach from their political leaders.

We have witnessed that PMLN not only held rallies lead by various MPA’s and MNA’s but also initiated a massive anti-PTI campaign on electronic media. Ruling party has used all possible means to convince voters to win today’s by election, because in case of their defeat, they would have to elect another Speaker of National Assembly for rest of government’s tenure. It would not be a pleasing act to do for them. Negative result would also leave ruling party in a situation to find out reasons of their decline in masses, and improve performance by fulfilling their political promises prior to next general elections. Although PMLN victory would give them enough reason to grill PTI’s claim of rigging, but a defeat with meagre margin would not be all lost for PTI.

It is believed that result of by-elections in NA-122 would describe the future course of two major political parties contesting.
