A retired Pakistan Army officer has mysteriously gone missing while visiting Nepal for a job interview. Retired Lt Col Mohammad Habib, has been untraceable since April 6 from Nepal, where he was heading towards Buddhist pilgrimage site for a job interview. The place is just five kilometers away from Indian border. He last contacted his family last time on the same day and since then his phone numbers have not been reachable.
It is yet to be found that what could be purpose to abduct Pakistan Army’s retired Lt Colonel from Nepal, but at the moment it seems that he has become victim of struggle among various regional intelligence agencies. His son has directly blamed role of Indian intelligence agency behind abduction of his father. There are certain realities which can back his allegations. According to media reports, both the email address domain and company website of those who contacted abducted Col Habib are registered in India. Some are arguing that it could be a tit for tat act of Indian intelligence agency in connection with Yadav, but Kulbushan Yadav being a high profile Indian spy was captured from inside Pakistan and has admitted to instigate chaos and instability in the country by using his ties with various insurgent groups in Pakistan. On the other side, Col Habib retired from the army some three years ago and was looking for a job in a private security firm. Hence, comparison between both cannot be drawn.
There is need to put aside speculations and effective efforts are required to locate the missing officer in order to ensure his safe return to Pakistan. We hope for his safe and earliest possible return.
