In a sensational claim senior politician and leader of Pakistan Muslim League (Zia-ul-Haq Shaheed) said that Former President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf supported the Taliban; he was speaking to anchor Asif Mehmood in Roze News program Analysis with Asif. Ijaz said that Musharraf initially decided to become an ally of US in the war against terror but in 2005 he realized that he has taken the wrong step. He further said that it may appear that Pakistan was against the Taliban during the Musharraf era but the situation was contrary to it in reality. He further added that Pakistan was never directly involved in any operation against the Afghan Taliban.
Responding to a question regarding the operation conducted by CDA against the I-11 slums, Ijaz said that it is not the first time such an operation has been conducted. He mentioned that the slums were completely bulldozed during the Musharraf Government. Ijaz further mentioned that those evicted back then were settled in Mianwali but they soon returned and established the settlement in Islamabad. He said that the slums are often used by criminal elements as there is no check and balance on who live there. Ijaz however mentioned that the slums are not the only illegal entities in Islamabad. He said that many farm houses who were allotted for the purpose of cultivation are now being used for other purposes which is against the laws.
