ISLAMABAD: National Assembly on Wednesday adopted a motion authorising the Speaker to constitute a parliamentary Committee for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
A motion to this effect was moved by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. The motion said that the Committee should be constituted in consultation with the Chairman Senate and the parliamentary leaders.
Elaborating the functions of the Committee, the motion said that the committee will perform the function of an oversight on the consensus reached at the All Parties Conference on the CPEC.
It said that the committee will monitor the speedy implementation of the corridor project. It said that the committee will also endeavor to promote consensus on the project and make recommendations for its early realization. The Committee will present periodic report to the Assembly.
