Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted more than normal rains in the country during the Monsoon season this year and a significant rainfall has been reported during last 24 hours in Cherat 68 mm and Lahore 60 mm, meanwhile Pakistan Meteorological Department for next 24 hours predicts “Isolated thunderstorm / rain with one or two moderate to heavy falls is expected over Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore & DG Khan Divisions along with Upper Catchments of all the major rivers.” Monsoon is likely to remain active during throughout the week (23- 29 July) and activity is likely to increase from 22 July 2018 which may cause isolated heavy falls with one or two very heavy falls over the Upper Catchments of rivers Chenab, Ravi & Sutlej along with Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi Divisions.
When Monsoon hits Pakistan a large outbreak of diseases are reported in different parts of the country. It’s one of those problems that occur due to lack of preventive measures and lapses in our pre-planned structure. We need to be careful during monsoon, as monsoons reduce the immunity of body and make it vulnerable to many diseases, which are commonly associated with this season.
According to health experts’ diseases associated with monsoon are malaria, jaundice, gastro intestinal infections like typhoid, Fever, Skin problems, Measles and cholera. A puddle of water, which gets stagnant due to rain, becomes breeding ground for mosquitoes and also dengue.
It is the responsibility of every citizen to play his role for controlling Dengue for protecting citizens from the dangerous disease by adopting all precautionary measures and taking steps for ensuring cleanliness and not to allow stagnant water in our surroundings while also to use mosquito net or mosquito repellents like mats and coils.
We need to avoid walking in dirty water during rainy season. This may lead to numerous fungal infections, which affects toes and nails. While on the other hand diabetic patients to take special care of their feet and always keep their feet dry and clean. Arrival of Monsoon leads to voluminous health issues; make precautionary measures to get rid from them. And we all know that prevention is better than cure. However, health experts also suggest some food for monsoon seasons to keep healthy like super natural drink lemonade, Ginger or lemon tea, Soups, Cereal food, Dry food, Honey include more of vegetables, fruits and cereals in your diet during the monsoon.
